Projects

Nestled at the base of a forested mountainside in metropolitan Scranton / Wilkes-Barre, the new stadium design fully integrates its architecture into the surrounding natural environment. Working closely with Ewing Cole Architects, the ballpark’s renovation is centered on its engagement with the mountainside’s rock escarpment and its mature deciduous woodland. Within the foot of the mountain, a panoramic public concourse is integrated as a woodland walkway, allowing the landscape to emerge as much a part of the ballpark’s structure as its grandstand. The design’s use of indigenous materials, tree preservation and stormwater management strategies further fuses the ballpark with the site.

HMWhite’s careful study of existing conditions and diligent design process for site amenities presented opportunities to salvage and reuse materials, minimizing construction costs and creating great impact with minimal investment.
